While perusing conservative websites to increase my knowledge of political affairs, I found the following site: http://townhall.com/columnists/scottrasmussen/2012/02/03/are_the_trends_obamas_friend

This site is authored by Scott Rasmussen who is the founder and president of Rasmussen Reports. He is a political analyst, author, speaker and, since 1994, an independent public opinion pollster.

He highlights in his latest post the dangers of a fickle public who vacillate quickly and wildly in their opinion of our president and the Republican nominees. He points out that there is a real danger of the president increasing and peaking his popularity at the right time. For those of us committed to replacing our president with a more conservative republican candidate- this is disturbing news.

As the job market shows slow but steady improvement in recent months, the president’s approval rating mirrors this slow and steady upswing. As we all know, the economy is by far the most prescient issue in the minds of the American public. However, as so many of us older American’s fail to realize, our economy is no longer ours to control.

We live in a global world where communication and business is truly conducted on a world-wide scale. Thus the economy is even more directly tied into our foreign policy than ever before. When we as a public critique our leaders, we must look at the issue of our economy as a result of our foreign policy. This point is key. The economy and our foreign policy are not two separate issues. They are intertwined and dependent on each other. Thus, as voters deciding on our next president, we must analyze these issues as one interconnected entity. A president who is focused strictly on the American economy is short-sited and doomed to failure in the long run.

Our foreign policy must understand as a basic premise that our economy is no longer self-driven but it is a result of our worldwide position in the business world. Our president lashes out at China. He must realize that China is perhaps our greatest chance for a viable market for many U.S. goods. We cannot forget that 1 out of every 4 people on the face of this earth is Chinese.

I hope that more and more people realize the important role our foreign policy plays in our American economy. Our future and the future of our great country depends on it.

God Bless America
